Silica cased electric immersion heaters have many applications in industry where corrosive liquids must be heated, for example, electro- plating solutions and scale removing baths. Our customers have found that these immersion heaters provide the most economical, clean, efficient and safe methods of heating solutions. This is achieved by the inclusion of the following special features.
Silica / quartz – this material is completely unaffected by all acids, except hydrofluoric and phosphoric, even up to the highest temperatures.
Silica / quartz industrial heaters are ABSOLUTELY SAFE in operation , as the outer silica and inner porcelain have excellent electrical insulation characteristics. To ensure that full benefit is obtained from this safety heating system, the incorporation of an earth leakage circuit breaker in the electrical circuit is recommended. We have found out that this gives immediate trip out when there is any electrical leakage from the heating element to the solution – even in the water bath.
These sheaths obviate the need for the periodic replacements from corrosion and because of their chemical inertness, will not introduce any contamination to the solution to be heated. The moulded rubber cap and electrical cable are thoroughly bonded together and no damage can be caused through bending of the cable. For heating solutions which attack rubber badly, caps can be supplied in pvc.
These heaters can be serviced by your own maintenance staff. By designing a two piece moulded cap, service has been simplified. The heater can be quickly de mounted and replacements can be made in minutes. This is particularly valuable when the heaters are used for continuous processing, where spares are held by your own maintenance department.
These heaters are compact units, occupying little space in the tank, and have a smooth exterior which minimizes surface deposition and facilitates cleaning. Installation is simple and inexpensive.
Installation Instructions :
INTRODUCTION:
Care should be always taken when handling and installing quartz heaters, as the sheath is made of brittle material and particularly susceptible to mechanical shocks.
INSTALLATION:
A suggested method of installation is shown in the diagram.
A: Wood or suitable material
B: Resilient sleeve of suitable material
C: Support block.
IMPORTANT:
A) The liquid level in the tank should not be less then 4” from the bottom edge of the rubber cap. When the temperature of the liquid is aove 500C we would recommend a minimum distance of about 6” between the edge of the cap and liquid surface. The caps must not be submerged in liquids.
B) The liquid level must not be allowed to fall below the MINIMUM IMMERSION DEPTH ( COLD ZONE).
C) None of the heaters should be supported by the cap or cable alone.
D) Heaters sheaths should not be allowed to become coated with deposits from the bath as it lowers heat efficiency , or even breakage, may result.
E) To obtain maximum efficiency from these heaters, it is always recommended that the tanks be well lagged and covered if possible, to conserve heat.
Note: Fittings are not supplied
